Welcome to the...

Welcome to the Art Department web pages. At Cyfarthfa we want to encourage our pupils to develop their abilities and skills in all aspects of art, as well as experiment with new materials which may lead to them discovering previously hidden talents!

We offer a range of approaches and disciplines within the department over the key stages, these include painting and drawing, textiles, 3d work, graphic design and print making. We are fortunate to have recently installed a specialised graphics suite of apple mac computers for use by all art and design students.

Throughout Years 7, 8 and 9 pupils are introduced to new materials, approaches and disciplines where they have the opportunity to experiment and expand their knowledge of the subject. If pupils choose to study art at GCSE in Years 10 & 11 they are given the option of doing a GCSE in General Art or Graphics within the department. Pupils who study art at this level will study a varied course where high standards and commitment are required.
